AGO is an independent creator and publisher of educational card games and learning materials for phonics, reading, ESL conversation and language learning.

The story began in Takarazuka, Japan in 2010, when New Zealand educator and designer Leon Butchers began developing games for his own students. The idea was simple: turn essential language practice into something learners would genuinely enjoy playing again and again.

What began in the classroom has grown into a range of games used by teachers, families and learners around the world. AGO games combine carefully structured learning content with simple, replayable gameplay—getting learners reading, speaking, asking questions and actively using language.
